Team Luton in the County Record Books!

Over the weekend of 13th / 14th May we ran our second Long Course open meet within this year’s National Qualifying window. It was another well organised competition, running smoothly from start to finish, enabling swimmers from clubs all over the UK to enjoy themselves and swim fast.

The meet itself provided some big improvements, especially from our younger swimmers competing. There was also a notable success in the form of a Senior County Record in the Women’s 400m Freestyle for Chantal Smith. Her winning time was 4:27.73. Congratulations Chantal!

Adam Taylor, our Head Coach, said, “It’s great to see the commitment and hard work from both swimmers and coaches alike paying off.  A massive thank you to all of the volunteers who have helped run our competitions so far this season – we have one left in July which I’m sure will be just as much of a success as all of the others. We couldn’t do it without you!”

Times and positions from both the April and May Long Course meets continue to be available at RESULTS.

East Region Youth / Open Age Championships

We had a small but focussed group of swimmers competing over the 29th April – 1st May Bank Holiday weekend at our home pool, Inspire.

The team were successful with Chantal Smith gaining a Gold (800m FC) and 2 Silvers (200m / 400m FC),  Celyn Walmsley a Gold (200m I.M) and a Silver (400 I.M), not to mention the numerous finals and Personal Best Times made in a variety of events.

Congratulations to all the swimmers that competed. We continue to make big strides forward and everyone is proud of the progress you’re making!

May is a busy month for swimmers of all ages. Our top Team Luton swimmers have two more meets coming up this month – our own Long Course Level 1 Meet (13th – 14th May) and then the East Region Age Group champs 27th – 29th May in Norwich  Our youngsters (9- 12 years) meanwhile have Round 2 of the M11 League whilst some of our Masters are travelling to Norwich, Nuneaton or Bexleyheath to compete in Open Meets.

As our Head Coach, Adam Taylor, says, “Quality process brings quality outcome! Keep up the great work”.

May Long Course Meet

This meet was slightly over-subscribed when it closed, so unfortunately we have had to reject some swims.  Further information about how this was done is in the processing statement.

Please click the links below for further information,

There will be no late entries/changes accepted, and no time trials – so please do not ask.

SPECTATORS – it is not permissible to set up portable chairs on the spectator gallery, as these potentially impede emergency exits.

April L1 Meet Entries

The response to this Meet has been huge, and we have received considerably more entries than we can accommodate in the time available to us.  Unfortunately this means that we have had to reject a large number of entries.  As a result, the competition should be very fast and a great opportunity to post Ranking times for Summer championships.

Sheffield Premier Meet / Norwich LC Meet – w/e 24/3 -26/3

Over the weekend, Team Luton sent a number of swimmers to both of the above meets.

All swimmers showed a willingness to listen, learn and improve their race strategies alongside holding massively improved technique and skills under pressure. Keep improving the process and the outcome will continue to move forward too!

We now look ahead to our own competitions in April & May along with the East Region Championships. Well done to all who competed!

Chantal Shines At Edinburgh International!

Chantal Smith travelled as part of the East Region Team to compete at the highly renowned Edinburgh International meet held at the Royal Commonwealth pool from 10th-12th March.

Chantal came away with two BIG life time bests in the 400m and 800m Freestyle. As a result Chantal was the fastest East Region swimmer at the meet in both of those events. Her 800m time beat her own club record by over five seconds whilst the 400m was a PB by over three seconds.

A big thank you too all the Coaches/Staff for making it such an invaluable experience.

Congratulations Chantal – you did Team Luton proud!
