Malcolm Barton was a karate instructor for over 20 years and still enjoys weight training, cycling and watching motor racing.
Never having competed as a child, Malcolm first swam as a Master in 1995 and in 2001 he won the 50m, 100m and 200m Breaststroke at the GB Masters held at Crystal Palace.
Some twenty years after his competitive debut, Malcolm is still in national medal winning form, be it on Breaststroke or over 400m Individual Medley.
For those who may fear that a 400m IM may not be for them, Malcolm’s club mates have marveled at his ingenious ways of incorporating the event into training sets on a Friday morning.
Always giving his all in training, Malcolm says that, “I enjoy the pain and then feeling fit. I enjoy meeting the people that come training and its great more are coming along”.
