Eloise Turner, not just a successful triathlete
When did you join Team Luton / Luton SC?
I think it was April 2014. Time flies when you’re having fun!
If you were a member of a club or clubs before hand, did you compete and if so to what level?
No – I’d never had a swimming lesson in my life until I joined – I’ve had my strokes pulled apart and they’re currently being put back together!
When did you first swim competitively as a Master?
At the Barnet Copthal Swim Club Masters Sprint Meet (6 September 2015)
What / when was your most notable achievement (to date) as a Masters swimmer?
At the above – Gold in 50 & 100m Breaststroke.
What / when was your most memorable / enjoyable Masters swimming experience?
Oo.. that’s a toughie – personally, winning at the first ever event I entered! That spurred me on no end to want to improve and to achieve more in the future. But what I really love is training and all the banter!
What / who gets you (out of bed) to go training (at the end of a working day)?
Sheer determination to be the best that I can be – accepting I’m no spring chicken!
What’s the best part of a Team Luton Masters training session? Feeling like I’ve had a great workout whilst having a bit of fun.
Why do you still compete / train ?
I love sport, the competition and all the benefits it brings. It’s such a big part of my life, I can’t imagine not being able to train and compete.
What interests do you have outside of Team Luton Masters?
Sport-wise, I’m a competitive Triathlete and cyclist (Sportives mainly). Outside of sport – when I get the time away from training – I love cinema, travelling, food and (far too much) red wine!
Anything your club mates don’t know about you (and you might be willing to now reveal)?
Hmm – difficult to think of something innocuous (!).. but I’m a bit of a Sci-fi geek.
